The Interview

Project Name: The Interview - Narrative Prototype/Concept

Skills: Macromedia Director MX 2004, Photoshop, Lingo

Project (Video Desktop Capture):

Background: For my Narrative Forms module during the first Semester of my second year of my Interactive Media degree I was given the task of coming up with an idea for a narrative story in which I could add some interactivity too.

The story I eventually came up with is about a man down on his luck and down to his final £20, going to a make or break job interview in the big city and the story is told from the third person omniscient, where the narrator of the story understands all of the facts and feelings felt by my main character but is not a character itself.

You can make the choices on behalf of the main character 'George', deciding on many aspects, for example whether he pays his landlady the rent, should he buy a copy of The Big Issue magazine from a homeless man and it is decisions from these morale choices that really bring the complexity of my story out, for example if George pays his landlady his money level drops - drop below a certain level and he won't be able to afford a bus ticket later in the story and then the rain begins which ruins his suit. These scenarios are presented to the user and this forms the premise of the piece.

Above is a sample video taken from my Director prototype.
